The Victorians

The Victorians 1 (1)
The Victorians 2 (1)
  • Age Group: Year 4 and 5, KS2*
  • Duration: 1 hr 40 minutes to 2 hours
  • Capacity: 30 Children (extra children are negotiable)

Welcome to the Victorian era! Here, your children will visit The Great Exhibition and create their own wacky inventions to the crowd’s delight. After this, they will discover the comforts of an upper class Victorian home and fun Victorian toys, before being whisked away to the seaside for a leisurely holiday. We should just be there in time to catch the famous Punch and Judy show!

However, the children will also experience the darker side of the Victorian era. They will attend a class in the scary Victorian schoolroom and discover the difficult work of those in service. The children will also learn about the jobs and poor working conditions children their age had to endure, and see the terrible living conditions of the lower classes. They will be told about cruel Side Shows, horrible workhouses, and brave activists who fought against these traditions, like the famous author Charles Dickens.

* Can be adapted for other year groups upon request!
